For four years PA school districts have struggled to cope with massive cuts in state funding enacted by the administration of former Governor Tom Corbett. The gap between rich and poor schools doubled during this time and school districts in every part of PA are struggling to provide students with the opportunities they need to meet state standards and graduate from high school college and career ready.
A new Governor offers Pennsylvanians new hope for adequate and equitable funding for public schools. Governor Wolf has made a strong commitment to fair and adequate funding for public schools. We will see in the upcoming months if our state legislators support fair and adequate funding for public schools or if they don’t. Pennsylvanians who care about public education need to step up and contact their legislators with this simple message–PA needs a fair and adequate education funding formula that provides every student with the opportunity to learn.
